As lead copywriter, collaborated with Los Angeles ad agency Zambezi on the development and execution of Golf/Man, a multi-part, Web-based campaign designed to reposition and rebrand Ashworth, the legacy golf-apparel line owned by Adidas, for the contemporary marketplace.

Edited NPR.org's weekly book reviews column, which I launched in May 2008. In addition to writing regularly for the column, I assigned and edited the work of a dozen contributing book critics from around the country. I also contributed to NPR's pop culture blog "Monkey See."

Executive Editor (5/10 to 2/14)
Supervised a staff of five writer/editors to produce Southwest Airline's award-winning in-flight publication, which reaches 3.4 million readers each month. Primary responsibilities included assigning and editing the features well; top-editing front- and back-of-book content; and writing features.

Arts Editor (1/05 to 11/06)
Oversaw and shaped the daily newspaper's arts and entertainment cover- age. Managed a staff of 8 writers and editors. Collaborated with online ed- itors to enhance arts coverage on the Web. In my first year, the paper's features section was named one of the ten best in the country by the American Association of Sunday and Features Editors (AASFE). In my second year, it was named the country's best features section by the Missouri School of Journalism (MSJ). Additionally, my enterprise-journalism project, "Avedon's Lone Stars," was a 2006 Society of News Design winner in the features category and took the 2007 MSJ prize for best arts feature.

Managed a staff of 9 writers and editors; top-edited all of the magazine's music, theater, technology, and videogame coverage, including cover stories, features, reviews, and the monthly music supplement Listen2This; landed the now-famous (naked) Dixie Chicks cover, which in 2005 was named one of the 40 greatest magazine covers of the past 40 years by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME).
General Editor (11/00 to 12/02)
Supervised and nurtured a staff of 9 writers and editors; assigned and edited all music features and theater reviews; top-edited all music, technology, and videogame reviews; top-edited the monthly service insert "EW Recommends"; conceived, launched, and edited monthly bonus-edit music supplement Listen2This; helped coordinate the launch of ew.com. In 2002, EW won ASME's National Magazine Award for General Excellence.

Assigned and edited all of the magazine's music coverage, including cover stories, features, news, theme packages, and reviews.
